I will keep it as a Toslink interface but its useless for the speaker application I initially bought it for. This helped a lot but it is still not good enough. I did a test with a powerbar without a ground pin. This is a huge problem and renders the unit useless for active power devices (from AC). I assume the internal DAC converter is not galvanically decoupled from the DC supply (USB) it feeds. There is a constant electronic noise-floor which is super annoying. Which means, both, the source (the audio interface) as well as my speakers are grounded. I want to use it to connect active power studio monitors. Sound quality with headphones is also great. The internal amplifier is potent enough, even for high impedance headphones. The system offer analog output 1/8 TRS as well as SPDIF (coax) and Toslink (optical) all at once. Plugged it in and within one second Windows recognized the interface and changed the setting to output audio through the new device.
